Welcome to the Criminology and Security Studies Department of Nile University of Nigeria.
Criminology and Security Studies is the interdisciplinary study of crime as an individual and social phenomenon. The programme adopts an interdisciplinary and integrative approach to addressing questions of individual and societal behaviour.
To get a degree in Criminology and Security Studies, students are required to take the following courses: psychological/sociological causes of deviance, terrorism, forensics, environmental crime and restorative justice, among others. The courses in the Criminology and Security Studies department are integrated with courses from psychology, sociology, political science, economics, history, philosophy, computer science and mathematics. So, graduates of this department are able to pursue their interests in areas such as crime prevention, corrections, law enforcement, law and law reform, and research policy and analysis.
